PSHE and Relationship Education
At Park Hall, we intend for our global citizens to develop the skills necessary in order for them to become resilient, confident and responsible members of society. Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education alongside relationship education is an embedded part of our broad curriculum and school ethos where we ensure that our values of honesty, enjoyment, achievement, respect and teamwork are at the HEART of everything we do. Our global citizens will learn the value of a growth mindset and how this can positively impact on confidence, self-esteem and decision making. Learners will recognise that their future possibilities are endless and filled with opportunities -‘The power of yet’. Global citizens are equipped with the language and vocabulary needed to be able to express and communicate their own thoughts and feelings, and those of others.
Intent
- All members of the Park Hall family aim to ensure that everyone is: Welcomed, Loved and recognises that they are Unique, important and valued for who they are. We empower our little people to have the biggest dreams, immersing them in our aspirational and inspirational curriculum which enables them to imagine a future full of infinite possibilities.
- Together we aim for all of our learners to be confident, resilient, respectful and, compassionate global citizens who make a positive contribution to the world in which they live. We have a shared belief in, “The Power of Yet” and celebrate our marvellous mistakes.
- Our ICARE characters and ethos underpin all aspects of our curriculum design. We seek to enable our children to: build a strong sense of identity, celebrate their character strengths, appreciate and be thankful, build positive and successful relationships with all members of the Park Hall family and show empathy to others. We all recognise that, “to be kind” is the most important thing to aspire to be.
-
Our children may only be little, but they have big curious and inquistive minds. We seek to ensure that all learners know that they have a voice and that they can explore, discuss and challenge a diverse range of views in a responsible and respectful manner. Together the Park Hall family seek to celebrate and embrace diversity, promote equality and recognise that when we see through our hearts we know that everyone is equal.
Implementation
Our inspiring and aspirational PSHE & C and Relationships curriculum is meticulously planned to identify the knowledge and skills that our global citizens will aquire.
Learners will explore, discover and develop curiosity, learning how to make a positive difference to the challenging world in which we live.
Building a strong sense of identity empowers us and we are more likely to succeed. Celebrating our character strengths and successes helps us to focus on the positives around us and improves our wellbeing. Being thankful helps us to focus on positive emotions and enables us to deal with adversity. Strong and positive relationships are paramount to our wellbeing. A sense of belonging to a family who care for one another is essential. Understanding others, seeking to accept, embrace and be kind to others strengthens the Park Hall family.
Together we actively promote inclusion to prepare our children to play their part as active global citizens, who share a belief that difference is a positive, and that individual characteristics make us all unique. Through engagement in high quality texts, our little people seek to ensure that they positivley impact on the lives of others, creating a sense of belonging and embracing difference.
Team PHA know that in order for us to be at our best, all parts of our brain must work together. Happy Breathing brings oxygen to our brains and helps team PHA work together. We understand that marvellous mistakes grow our brains.
Our little learners have the biggest, curious and enquiring minds. We provide opportunities for our children to discuss challenging questions in a respectful, inclusive and caring environment in which they feel safe and able to share their voice and views. Our Big Question, discussions and debates enable learners to develop higher order thinking skills and to sensitively challenge the views of others.
Impact
Our little people have enquiring and curious minds. They use their voices effectively and respectfully knowing that they are welcomed, valued and loved for who they are. They are confident, resilient and caring individuals who respectfully and empathetically challenge viewpoints. Our little people have the biggest dreams and aspirations and know that they too can be inspirational to others, making a positive difference to the Park Hall family and the wider, every changing and challenging world in which we live. Together we embrace diversity and difference, and create a future full of possibilities for all.
